Meet the Team

Saturday August 22nd was our first team meeting and an opportunity to officially congratulate each other in person.  We all had stories to share about the interviews last weekend, and first impressions of Tony.  I think we all agree he will be able to give as good as he gets - and we'll be giving him heaps at every opportunity.  But seriously, Tony hosted a fantastic day which was very thoroughly organised and prepared.  The team sports were particularly spectacular.  We started with Chinese Checkers, and although Des emerged as an early strategist, Elke led the girls to victory.  Our second competition was using chop sticks to sort Smarties into colour.  Another victory to the girls thanks to Lora's technique of flicking Smarties, looking forward to what that looks like when it comes to eating food.  However the third team sport was a magnificent group effort, demonstrating we were able to discuss, communicate and come to a joint decision of providing Chairman Mao with the ultimate "Aussie Experience" as our gift.  We learnt much about each other throughout the day, enjoying some music from Des, photographs by Matt and wine from Elke (http://www.shepherdsrun.com.au/).  A big thanks to Emma, who went to France with a GSE Team earlier this year.  Emma shared a little of her experience with us, helping us to understand some of the demands, and the rewards of being part of a GSE Team.  She certainly shared some interesting tips and spurred on our own enthusiasm for what is to come.  We now have a lot of individual planning to get done before our next meeting.

Only 9 weeks to go.  Taking a deep breath.
